Jamel pissed off my friend Jason so badly that Jason resigned as his volunteer lunch buddy.
In addition to Jamel's self-centered behavior and inability to quit cheating at board games, even after reminders, the following was the proverbial icing on the cake:
Jamel would steal the basketball from the other kids, give it to Jason, and demand that he "shoot it at THAT basket." Jason would try to explain that basketball is about playing as a team with the other kids, but Jamel kept insisting "NO! It's about who scores more points." Apparently Jamel has been watching the NBA.
Finally Jason had had enough and started to walk away. Jamel charged him from behind saying "You're not my friend!"
Jamel then ran into the building, which he knows is off limits at recess time. Jason went in after him and warned Jamel that he wasn't supposed to be inside. Jamel says "I don't care, go away!" so Jason said OK, and turned to leave. He was almost too the door, when Jamel pushes at him and, says "Fine, just leave."
Jason left. The next day Jamel says to me, "When is Mr. Jason gonna come back?"
It was as if the previous day had never happened for him.
